About our party...

We've hired the Okehampton Youth Hostel for exclusive use, to house both our families and friends, from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning. Let's make it a party that we'll remember for many years to come!

This Youth Hostel is a former railway goods shed, with 26 bedrooms (ranging from 2-6 beds),  several common rooms and a self catering kitchen/dining room. When you book, you can let us know if you want to stay over night, and if so, what room size you require.

It is also possible to come with a tent/vehicle to sleep in.

(YH check-in time is from 4pm on Friday, departure by 10am on Sunday, but we could decide to use the Sunday to do one of the activities, after checking out.)

About the food 

Bring and share on the Friday night

All other meals are included in the price of your stay,

with an outdoor BBQ on Saturday, weather permitting.

Things to do

Okehampton lies on the northern edge of Dartmoor, offering plenty of activities. We could just go for a walk. Then again....

There is a fabulous 11 mile long cycle route that follows an old railway track through stunning scenery, so you might want to bring your bike. Alternatively, bikes can be hired.

Or we could become monkeys and do high ropes

There are historical sites to visit, and many other sporting activities on offer, including abseiling from a bridge!

If it rains, there is a  snooker table, a footie 'table', a table-tennis table and plenty of space to play other indoor games. If you have a favourite game, please bring it along!

If you are a musician, bring your instrument - let's have a jam!

Of course you can also just hang out - there's no obligation to do anything!

There's a fire pit and we plan to have a BBQ on Saturday evening, weather permitting.

How to get there

Public transport: Trains go to Okehampton, at regular intervals, from Exeter. This is by far the most convenient method, as the venue is the former railway goods shed, right next to the station :-)

Of course you could also come by car - there is plenty of parking.

Costs

We've tried to keep costs low for everyone. These figures include  accommodation AND food - apart from the Friday night, where we are asking you to bring a pot luck contribution for a shared meal.
